As máquinas de Munari

It doesn't take much to realise that this is a summer machine. If you behave and don't start kicking me in the shins, i'll explain how it works. Ready?
Go!: the sunflower(1) has a magnifying glass (2) tied on the with a shoelace from a pre-war shoe. The fire from the lens scalds Romilda the frog (3) who jumps immediatly into the aluminium colander (4).
The weight of the frog lowers the colander into the bath (5) wich is almost full of water and mint where Romilda can cool down before returning to her place of work. ( excuse me a moment, the phone is ringing).
Now as we were saying, the colander et cetera et cetera drops into the bath and pulls tha cord (7). The cord, passing around the multicoloured pulley (6) raises the bottom of the bottle of eau de vie (8) and pours the contents into the aquarium (9) wich is the home of an old trout.
The trout gets drunk; a flower (10) hinged to the cage (11) is attached to its tail. The old trout waves the flower about all over the place and the two huge butterflies whose wings are the size of fans, will try in vain to land on the flower, producing the desired currents of air.

Notes:

a) The top hat that serves as a plant pot for the sunflower was given to me by Andrew Mac Brambilla of Como. This dear driend is the inventor of the famous automatic wet towel dispensing machines you will undoubtedly have noticed in the foyers of all leading theatre and cinemas. He has made a lot of money from this invention and now lives in an underwater villa and, the last time i saw him, he told me he had his Great Dane re-covered in eel skin.

b) If the apparatus does not function, wave the handkerchief in a westerly direction several times.

Boa Leitura!
